This solid Baltimore & Ohio 0-8-0 yard switcher actually started out as B&O 2-8-0 Consolidation #2544 built by Alco-Schenectady in January of 1906. The B&O Shops in Mt Clare, MD, took on the task of converting it into B&O 0-8-0 #671 in May of 1927. The loco then served as a yard switcher until being scrapped in December of 1952. Rebuilt specs - 62" drivers, 207 psi boiler pressure, 25.5x30" cylinders, engine wt of 221,000 lb and tractive effort of 55,360 lb. This is an Arthur B. Johnson photo. |
